League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK), the Korean professional league for League of Legends (LoL) esports, announced that T1 defeated Genji in the third round of the 2023 LCK Spring Playoffs held at LCK Arena in Roll Park, Jongno-gu, Seoul, from Saturday (Jan. 1) to Sunday (Jan. 2) to advance directly to the Grand Finals on Jan. 9 at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
T1's fourth consecutive Finals appearance, an LCK first T1 is the team that has played in the most finals and won the most championships in the LCK's 11-year history. Prior to this spring, they had made 13 finals appearances and won 10 titles.
After finishing first in the 2023 LCK Spring regular season with a 17-1 record, T1 defeated KT Rolster in the second round of the playoffs and punched its ticket to the final by winning the third-round winner-take-all match against Genji in three sets on Sunday.
T1 won the first set 23-8 in kills, thanks in large part to top laner Choi "Zeus" Woo-jae, who led the way with seven kills, one death and 10 assists. In game two, T1 won thanks to 12 kills from ranged dealer Lee "Kumayushi" Min-hyung, who chose Apellios, but lost in game three as they were unable to overcome Genji's strong backline. With mid laner Lee "Faker" Sang-hyuk taking the jade in game four, T1 defied Genji's expectations and won the game three to one, with Lee dominating the late game engagements.
T1, who reached the 2021 LCK Summer Finals, won the overall title in Spring 2022, finished runner-up in Summer and advanced to the finals this Spring, setting a new record for consecutive finals appearances in four consecutive splits.
With their victory over Genji, T1 also secured a spot in the LCK's Mid-Season Invitational (MSI). Due to its strong international performance in 2022, the LCK was allotted two MSI berths and earned the privilege of skipping the play-in stage and going straight to the bracket stage. T1, who qualified for the LCK Spring Grand Finals, advanced to the MSI bracket stage regardless of the outcome.

T1 will face the winner of Genji and KT Rolster in the 2023 LCK Spring Grand Finals at the same venue a day later on Sunday, Sept. 9.
Ticket pre-sale for the Grand Finals begins at 3 p.m. on April 4 Tickets for the final matchup between KT Rolster and Genji, which will take place on April 8 at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium starting at 3 p.m., can be purchased through Interpark starting on Monday, April 3. Tickets are divided into R, S, and A seats and are priced at 50,000 won, 40,000 won, and 30,000 won, respectively.
