Song Min-hyuk (19), a promising player from the national team, passed first in the 'PGA Korean Tour Qualifying Tournament' held to qualify for next year's Korea Professional Golf (KPGA) Korean Tour.
Song Min-hyuk reduced 4 strokes in the final 3rd round of the tournament held at the Gunsan Country Club Tournament Course (par 72) in Jeollabuk-do on the 17th and took first place with a final total of 9 under par 207 strokes.
This tournament was scheduled to be held over 4 rounds and 72 holes, but the third day of play the day before was not completed due to heavy rain, and the competition committee decided to determine the rankings at 54 holes.
Song Min-hyuk, who played for the national team from 2021 to this year, was a junior powerhouse who won 15 times as an amateur.
He also won the Bitgoeul Jungheung Cup Amateur Championship last May.
He turned professional in July and participated in the KPGA Korean Tour tournament as an invited player four times, and also participated in the KPGA Srixon Tour tournament to prepare for his full-fledged debut.
His qualifications were recognized by tying for 19th place in the ‘special competition’ Genesis Championship.
Song Min-hyuk, who said, “I will play with the goal of winning the Rookie of the Year next year,” said, “I think I need to improve my course management to develop into a competitive player. I also need to improve my physical strength, so I plan to work hard on weight training during the off-season.”
Ko In-seong, Hwang Do-yeon, and Choi Ho-young tied for second place, two strokes behind.
