Tottenham Hotspur 'captain' Son Heung-min, who tasted a goal in the English professional football Premier League (EPL) after two months, placed significance on his first goal since the Asian Cup.

Son Heung-min appeared as a starter in the EPL round 27 home game against Crystal Palace held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England on the 3rd (Korean time) and led Tottenham to victory with a key goal that made it 3-1 in the 43rd minute of the second half.

After the game, Son Heung-min said through the club, “I am very happy to come back from the Asian Cup and score a goal again. “It’s even better to see the fans cheering,” he said.

Son Heung-min resumed scoring for his team Tottenham two months after the 20th round against Bournemouth on January 1 this year.

Son Heung-min, who went through a difficult time due to his failure to win the Asian Cup and internal strife within the national team, quickly recovered his performance by even tasting a goal after the recent conflict with national team junior Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain) was resolved.

Son Heung-min, who scored the team’s third goal, said, “The most important thing was to get three points. “We tried to show our soccer skills,” he said. “We performed well even when we were down 0-1.”

He said, “The opponent’s strategy of lowering the line and focusing on defense worked well until the beginning of the second half. Still, we tried to keep our composure,” he said, adding, “We needed one perfect opportunity, and Timo Werner took advantage of that opportunity and scored the equalizer.”

Son Heung-min, who showed a calm finish even in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, smiled and said, “I look calm, but I am nervous,” and “I am grateful for the compliment.”

He continued, “It was a bit difficult because I had to run almost 50m, but I tried to touch the ball well in front of my opponent so they couldn’t touch me. I try to stay as calm as possible in front of the goal and in one-on-one situations with the goalkeeper. “If I get too excited, I can’t kick the ball the way I want and most of the time I fail to score, so I tried to stay calm,” he explained.
