The KT Wiz, seeking a second consecutive title in two years after winning their first in 2021, pulled off a thrilling upset over the LG Twins in the first game of the best-of-seven Korean Series.

KT beat LG 3-2 in the first game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO on Sunday at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul thanks to Moon Sang-chul's game-winning hit in the top of the ninth inning.

LG answered right back in the bottom of the first inning. Back-to-back singles by Park Hae-min and Kim Hyun-soo put runners on first and third, and KT second baseman Park Kyung-soo made a throwing error on Austin Dean's grounder to make it 1-1.

With momentum on their side, LG loaded the bases with a single by Oh Ji-hwan, and Moon Bo-kyung made it 2-1 with a sacrifice fly to right field.

KT squandered the opportunity with runners on first and second in a triple play. Moon Sang-chul failed to lay down a sacrifice bunt, and LG followed with a catcher-first baseman-second baseman double play.
